"Here comes Miss Amphipolis..." scroll

One of most wanted Xena props were the scrolls that appeared during the tv series. In this case, this is the screenused scroll used by Salmoneus in the winner proclamation of the Miss Known World Pageant contest. So, this piece had a leading role in this episode. The scroll was originally purchased in the New Zealand auction that took place after the show ended.

It is made of a kind of recycled paper or papyrus. The ends grips are made of wood and resin shells. The scroll is in mint condition for being over 25 years after the episode aired in January 20, 1997.

As we remember, the scroll has the beauty pageant finalists: first place for Miss Amphipolis, second place for Miss Skiros, third place for Miss Mesini, fourth place for Miss Parnassus and the last position was for Miss Artiphys, that became winner after the others quitted.

Definitely, an act of inclusion to transgender people, acceptance and equality of the collective that in the early 90’s they were synonym of social exclusion and marginalization by society in general with hardly any references on national television.

Screen matched marks are rounded with green, blue and red circles.

Prop Display (Burbank, Xena/Herc Convention 1998)

There was a time when a huge Xena props shadow box were displayed. This is the case of the Hercules/Xena Convention in 1998, this prop display was set up in the Burbank Hilton parking during the convention took place. All props displayed are easily identifiable: a Horde axe, chakram, breast dagger, Callisto sword, Xena sword and the “Miss Amphipolis” contest scroll.

For all xenites, why don’t we restart that activity with some Xena collectors items, I'm sure there would be thousands of people wishing to see something similar, don’t you think?

Screenused shell scroll

Hello xenites! I have realized that I had never posted before my scroll seen in various episodes from the Xena: Warrior princess tv series. The first appearance I remember was in the episode "Here comes...Miss Amphipolis" from season 2 hold by the the Pageant Matron when she first walks in the room.

After, we saw it in the episode "Little problems" from season 5 hold by Aphrodite played by Alexandra Tydings at the beginning of the episode and after seen again in the hands of the bouncer at the club door of the twins theme party, oil wrestling competition, that Gabrielle and Aphrodite are trying to get into.

It appear to be made out of some type of recycled paper or even could be made out of papyrus. The scroll is hand painted and trimmed with leather where it attaches to the wood dowels, it has resin shells on each end of the dowels to finish out with an middle ages effect.

Hand written detailed view.
