1998 Prop Display Recreation

Does it sounds familiar to you? There was a time when a huge Xena props shadow box were displayed. This is the case of the Hercules/Xena Convention in 1998, this prop display was set up in the Burbank Hilton parking during the convention took place and it was assembled by a company called Imagination Creators for MCA/Universal. The main problem was that the display case was set up directly to the sun and was really difficult to take good photos.

All props displayed are easily identificable: a Horde axe, chakram, breast dagger, Callisto sword, Xena sword and the “Miss Amphipolis” contest scroll.

Well, I decided to recreate this beautiful Xena prop display with some of my stuff and a purple velvet fabric I have, was too funny! After 25 years here it is again, same display with the highest resolution ever to see every single detail.

In this case, there is my retractable metal screenused Xena sword, the screenused “Miss Amphipolis” contest scroll, the screenused Horde axe, Original Xena Creation Limited Edition Chakram replica, Callisto Creation Limited Edition sword replica and to end up, the Todd’s Coyle Limited Edition breast dagger.

Prop Display (Burbank, Xena/Herc Convention 1998)

There was a time when a huge Xena props shadow box were displayed. All props displayed are easily identifiable: a Horde axe, chakram, breast dagger, Callisto sword, Xena sword and the “Miss Amphipolis” contest scroll.

For all xenites, why don’t we restart that activity with some Xena collectors items, I'm sure there would be thousands of people wishing to see something similar, don’t you think?

Xena November 18-20 Convention & Auction

This year the Xena 25th Anniversary Convention happened on November 18-20 in the Hyatt Regency  Los Angeles Airport. I couldn't go but I lived that weekend with great enthusiasm and joy. As we all know, it's a time to meet up other xenites, enjoy, share feelings, meet the main actors from the show, get some autographs and definitely, had a great time all together.

During the whole weekend there were plenty of Xena fans wearing their Xena cosplays, even a few screenused wardrobes, it is the case of Boris, he worn the screenused Ares costume worn by Kevin Smith himself.

In this photo we can see Joe, in the left side, UK friend wearing Ares cosplay costume with an Ares scabbard he ordered to me a few years ago. In the middle, Emily, UK friend too, she trusted me to make her a Xena leather dress and all the leather pieces from the armour. She wore it like a real warrior princess! And in the right side is the man who worn the screenused Ares complete wardrobe, including sword, scabbard and jewelry. Many people was really surprised and they photographed him.

Many Xena fans were on the stage during the Xena costume contest happened during the weekend. There were really such a good costumes there: Tamy, worn her handcrafted Xena evil costume, really screen accurate, I really love the result and she is a really kind and enjoyable woman. In her left side is Deborah, wearing Xena shamaness costume from season 5 handling the Xena Argo saddle bags. The wardrobe is stunning, without a doubt. The centaur and the male Xena and Gabrielle versions are quite funny, isn't it?

Lucy Lawless was really kind as always and Renée is a loving person, both are awesome women. What else I can say about them...

Well, in my opinion, the interesting thing happened on Sunday. An auction that wasn't properly advertised happened during the Ted Raimi photo op session. Mostly all Xena fans were in the getting photo ops done or awaiting in the Renée and Ted lines. Sadly, it was bad timing on the schedule.
There was auctioned some really interesting things:
  • Lucy’s season 5/6 hero leathers and a pair of her screen-worn greaves sold for $4700.
  • Gabrielle complete season 6 velvet costume was sold for $900.
  • Xena Creation Entertainment metal sword replica was sold for over $6000.
  • Gabrielle sais were sold for an unknown price.
  • Xena balanced chakram was sold for an unknown price.

So, really jealous! But, I wasn't there, I had no options to bid although there were online bidders as I knew a few days after. I will have killed for the Xena leathers and probably I would had loved to see Gabrielle costume and sais although I already got those screenused pieces.
