Full circle

During these last months I realized that I am living a full-circle moment as collector. Probably last year Holy Grail additions to my collection were totally unimaginable for me 5 years ago. I have always dreamed with a screen-used Xena's sword with scabbard, a screen-used dark chakram or even a screen-used metal Yin Yang chakram... I really don't know if it was just luck, or I just was in the right place in the right moment, who knows...

Xena's hero props

 Here are 4 of my screen used favorites pieces used by Xena played by Lucy Lawless herself.

Xena´s hero scabbard is made of genuine cow leather over a moduled foam structure, it has three golden medallions with paua shells.

Xena's hero resin sword (circa season 2&3). This particulary sword was signed by Lucy Lawless in a Xena Con many years ago. The handle is wrapped in real black leather, and it has the 7 paua shells intact in their position. It has signs of wear and scratches in the blade as result of the fighting scenes.

Xena's trademark signature hero breastplate worn by Xena's stunt. It is made of moduled plastic, real leather and rivets. The inner part is covered of leather to avoid hurting the stunt doubles during the scenes.

Xena's hero resin chakram used during season 1 to 4. This chakram was made over a steel armature for reinforment. The chakram is in mint condition, however, the wear seen was occurred during the production of the series. It has 9 paua shells on each side in mint condition.

Probably one of the rarest props I have seen in the last 15 years of collecting... I was desperate searching for a Xena’s Creation scabbard during years, I had bought one and never arrived, I was devastated. But, I just needed patience.

Here is a Xena’s set used scabbard worn by Lucy Lawless circa season 2 and 3. I think is impossible to screen match with a specific episode or scene.

The main material is a dark brown leather with some aged and oiled parts and the structure of the scabbard is made of soft but firm foam. The scabbard has two leather braids on top and in the middle. 

The golden medallions are awesome, they are made of resin with golden paint and each one has a paua shell inlay. The back part has one carabiner hidden bewteen pieces of leather on top and where it should be another smaller carabiner was replaced by a leather strip to tie to Lucy’s back corset.

This is, for sure, one of my “Holy Grail” props and another Xena’s prop I can cross it off my wish list, this one has a place in my heart. The leather still has a special smell.

Screenused Amazon Scabbard

I never posted before an entry of my screenused Amazon scabbard prop. I bought it a few years ago directly from New Zealand and it is still in good shape and condition.

This scabbard was seen in mostly all Amazons episodes in the back of the women amazon tribe. It is made of real leather and rivets, some of them have oxide due to the passage of time.

Screenused Ares scabbard

 The other day I realized that I never posted before this treasure: this is an Ares screenused scabbard prop used by Kevin Smith in the earlier seasons.

This leather scabbard was seen in the episode "The Xena Scroll" and "Intimate Stranger" from season 2.

It is made in black blue leather and metal ornaments. As I already know the costume and prop department used the same conchos and ornaments for multiple pieces, in this case there is a couple of Xena's whip style ornaments, a dinar style piece and the popular amazon emblem.

In the first season the scabbard had a different ornament in the middle section arround the oval piece, the traces of glue can still be seen.

Xena new Photoshoot

After a few weeks I've decided to change my Xena mannequin for another one that have simetrical sides, I think you the costume can be displayed clearly here. You can see the screenused sword on the back and the Yin yang chakram on the right side on the hook. Boots is my newest adquisition and are an early replica of Todds Costumes, I must say are very well done, good leather and a good running shoe inside.
