Hercules Photoshoot

Today I bring you a photo shoot of the Hercules costume that I own that it is almost completed, just missing a pair of boots. Probably one of my favorites costumes, that includes a screenused leather vest and undershirt worn by Kevin Sorbo himself, screenused belt worn by stunt double, leather pants and Limited Edition Hercules gauntlets made by the company Todds Costumes.

Screenused Hercules Hero vest & undershirt

Latest acquisition here, this is a screenused vest and undershirt worn by Hercules played by Kevin Sorbo in the episode “Tramps & Thieves” from season 6. The vest is easily screen matched because it has a “L” cut in the right side of the front done by Luscious Deluxe with her sword. I have sewn by hand the L cut to avoid damage. The vest is very detailed and the under shirt is a simple piece but looks awesome together. Both are in mint condition.

The costume comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from The Prop Store of London that certifies the 

legitimacy that this costume was worn by Kevin Sorbo himself.

Hercules Screen-Accurate Gauntlets replica

Today I receive this pair of Hercules gauntlets made by Todd Coyle from toddscostumes.com. These are an early replica made by this company, this company had got a pair of screenused gauntlets and decided to reproduce them in a highly screen-accurate way, each detail is just like the ones seen on screen. I must say I was very surprised in the level of detail and the high quality of materials used in them. The metal cuffs on them are authentic sterling silver. 

Each gauntlet is different, I could not choose only one of them. Soon a few photos with the Hercules vest and belt.

Screenused Hercules/ Aphrodite/ Chimpules costume

Recently I have received this screenused Hercules costume. Well, it is a 4-pieces costume that includes: Hercules Hero stunt double vest used after by Aphrodite stunt, Hercules Hero belt, Chimpules fabric pants and Chimpules gauntlets (never worn on screen).

 

The main piece is the suede vest, it has a long history: It started as a Hercules stunt double costume from the Hero main costume, during season 3 it was modified for Aphrodite's stunt double (Sharon James) in the episode titled "Love Takes A Holiday". And then, in season 4 was used by the chimpanzee in the episode titled "Yes Virginia There Is A Hercules" for a few seconds.

 

In my opinion, the most impressive pieces of this wardrobe is the yellow suede vest used by Hercules stunt that is in mint condition and, without doubt, the belt with an original leather pouch that hangs from the belt with a bead as a closure. Maybe Hercules kept his dinars inside.

The gauntlets were never used on screen although they have a tag inside that is written "H EP 11 CHIMP." As I know, the directors have many problems with the Chimpanzee even for filming a short sequence, and probably they decided to remove the gauntlets to avoid the animal would feel uncomfortable with them. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci originally pitched Chimpules as a full episode when Kevin Sorbo was unavailable during season four. The idea eventually became Porkules.

The back of the costume is also amazing, the belt is a real thick leather with sheep fur behind.

The pants are a small size ones, the chimpanzee was a small specimen so the size was right for him, although is unable to wear by an adult man or woman, sadly.

Doing a bit of search of this wardrobe I have found that this costume was framed by his previous owner and was sold in Ebay in Dec 2013 for $175 and a few years after was auctioned in the Auction webpage Icollector and sold in Nov 2014 for $150 a really cheap price for this type of wardrobe.

Screenused Serena corset

New arrival! This is a screenused corset used by Serena played by Sam Jenkins, Kevin Sorbo actual wife, stunt double, Kate Lobb in the episode “My Best Girl's Wedding” from season 5. The corset is made of garnet suede leather with boning to enhance the silhouette, it comes with Turners auction receipt. The skirt is a screenused leather brown unidentified piece.

I have mixed feelings with Hercules series, well, Hercules is the origin of Xena, Xena is an spin off from HTLJ. In my opinion, the earlier episodes were funny and devoid of emotion but the golden hind episodes from season 3 are the best ones of the whole series in my opinion.

 

But, the latest seasons became sad and had noteworthy absences but the golden hind. Do you know that Serena was played by Sam Jenkins in most of her appearances and by Kara Zediker in "The End of the Beginning", including the "present day" scenes. But Sam Jenkins declined to return to the role because she disliked the Golden Hind makeup, hence the recasting with Zediker. Jenkins returned to the role when transformation wasn't required, and when playing "Sin".

Salmoneus costume

New arrival! Salmoneus screen used robe costume worn by Robert Trebor in multiple episodes from HTLJ and XWP. This costume never left New Zealand after the show ended. The robe is made of light blue rustic fabric with some fabric decorations arround. In the tag inside is written “Salmoneus”. The costume is in very good condition.

I have been able to screen matched this costume and it was seen in the episode: 2x22 “The Power” from Hercules: The legendary journeys tv series.

Salmoneus played by Robert Trebor was a really loved, lovable and quite funny character that firstly appeared in Hercules tv series in the episode 1x02: "Eye of the Beholder". The character began to have frequent appearances in the series and become a Hercules good friend and sidekick. Also, Salmoneus met Xena in 1x12: "The Gauntlet" and started a very close relationship, so the character  also had various appearances in Xena. He was seen in "The Black Wolf", "Greater good" and sadly his last appearance was in "Here comes... Miss Amphipolis" from season 2.
