Gabrielle's chinese costume

Here a special entry about my last discovery. Gabrielle’s Chinese costume worn by Gabrielle played by Reneé O’Connor in the episodes “Purity” and “Back in the bottle” from season 5.

The costume includes a traditional Qipao dress tunic, wide leg pants and a pair of wrist gauntlets. The costume is very detailed and it is in same condition that left the set. The green fabric has a beautiful intricate lush brocade with floral motifs and black fabric brocade combines the floral theme with dragons and birds, it has a red braid trim all around. The wrist gauntlets were made with the same black fabric.

This costume was auctioned after the series ended in the “It’s a Wrap” auction in 2001. I found the original photograph of this specific wardrobe from the auction.

The costume includes the original label of the costume elements and the It’s a Wrap! COA.

It's a Wrap! auction original photo published. I was able to screen match this costume with the one shown in the photo and I can confirm that is the same costume.

Xena's Roman lady costume

“For once, Xena, I’d like to be the Roman noble and you the slave” Gabrielle. “Legacy” season 6.

Xena’s hero Roman lady costume worn by Lucy Lawless herself in the episode “Legacy” from season 6. Xena appeared with this roman “high class” wardrobe and Gabrielle as her slave to visit a roman governor with the purpose of getting information for the nomads.

“I am Fasmia— wife of Cypio Africanus the fifth.  I assume you’ve heard of my family.” said Xena.

The costume includes a silk fabric top with a belt attached on the front, silk fabric skirt, a pair of leather sandals, three necklaces and four rings. I love the silk fabric with oriental reminiscents, the golden belt and all these jewelry used in this wardrobe.

The costume includes the It’s A Wrap! COA. The seller told me the costume is in the same condition that was bought 20 years ago in the official “It’s a Wrap!” auction.

The costume didn’t include the golden bracelets, these are a pair of Gabby’s from her India outfit.

Bacchus screen used costume

Directly from New Zealand has arrived this Bacchus costume worn by the evil god Bacchus, played by Anthony Ray Parker, who turns innocent girls into bloody Bacchaes in the episode “Girls just wanna have fun” from season 2. This episode was awesome and was one of the first appearances of any Greek god during the tv series.

The costume is in very good condition. Obviously the main piece is the leather vest, this piece is made of heavy black leather with foam shoulder pieces inside to enhance the shoulders. It has an intricate gold chain with different style of metal beads, faux amber beads and other style of beads. The vest has a velcro piece in each shoulder to attach the silver cape seen in the episode. It has leather laces in each front and back sides to fit the actor figure.

This costume is missing the cape, black gauntlets and the gold jewelry seen on screen.

The pants is the same style of the ones worn by Ares played by Kevin Smith or Autolycus played by Bruce Campbell. Boots are a generic style used by many characters during the series.

Xena copper medallion

Finally I added a very special piece to my Xena Hero costume, the Xena copper medallion. A good friend from my country had decided to sell mostly all his collection and I wanted to purchase this piece.

This copper dress medallion was commissioned to one of the metalsmiths that worked as propmasters from the show, the actual person who built Xena’s hero armour from season 2 to 5. It is made of real copper, heated and hammered by hand.

A few photos of my Xena Hero costume with the copper medallion attached.

Screen worn Morloch costume

Recently arrived directly from New Zealand the Morloch screen worn costume worn by Prince Chesnik Bloodicarr Morloch played by Sandy Winton, a Australian actor who played the hunter of the amazons during the episode “Dangerous Prey” from season 6. I recently discovered that Lucy and Renée had several problems with this actor because of his ego and not recommendable behavior in the set, however this costume is really impressive.

General view

This wardrobe includes:
  • The leather vest with real metal plaques in front and back in mint condition.
  • Leather double pants made of black leather.
  • Amazing belt with metal details.
  • Pair of gloves made of leather a metal pieces.
  • Pair of elbow pads made of leather and big metal pieces.
  • Pair of gauntlets, well the gauntlets weren't used by Morloch, were used by other character but matches with the rest of the costume.
  • Pair of kneeguards in this case there was a mistake here, the seller bought in the 2001 Auction a huge lot of props and costumes and they didn`t match properly the knee guards of this wardrobe, is a kneeguard from Morloch and the other from Raczar (Craig Hall).
  • Fabric / leather cape is stunning, one of my favorite pieces of the wardrobe.
  • Black leather boots.
  • Original actor hanger with a tag that is written "MORLOCH X10 SANDY WINTON"
