Xena's costume components

A recent addition to my collection are these screen-used Xena’s costume components that includes a pair of metal zig-zag hammered copper shoulder guards pieces and a leather skirt petals strap, the strap leather petals have specific rivets that were used for Xena’s leathers.

These elements came with a PropStore certificate of authenticity, the seller sold one of the leather strap before so the lot is incomplete.

Xena's Roman lady costume

“For once, Xena, I’d like to be the Roman noble and you the slave” Gabrielle. “Legacy” season 6.

Xena’s hero Roman lady costume worn by Lucy Lawless herself in the episode “Legacy” from season 6. Xena appeared with this roman “high class” wardrobe and Gabrielle as her slave to visit a roman governor with the purpose of getting information for the nomads.

“I am Fasmia— wife of Cypio Africanus the fifth.  I assume you’ve heard of my family.” said Xena.

The costume includes a silk fabric top with a belt attached on the front, silk fabric skirt, a pair of leather sandals, three necklaces and four rings. I love the silk fabric with oriental reminiscents, the golden belt and all these jewelry used in this wardrobe.

The costume includes the It’s A Wrap! COA. The seller told me the costume is in the same condition that was bought 20 years ago in the official “It’s a Wrap!” auction.

The costume didn’t include the golden bracelets, these are a pair of Gabby’s from her India outfit.

Xena's hero props

Here are 4 of my screen used favorites pieces used by Xena played by Lucy Lawless herself.

Xena´s hero scabbard is made of genuine cow leather over a moduled foam structure, it has three golden medallions with paua shells.

Xena's hero resin sword (circa season 2&3). This particulary sword was signed by Lucy Lawless in a Xena Con many years ago. The handle is wrapped in real black leather, and it has the 7 paua shells intact in their position. It has signs of wear and scratches in the blade as result of the fighting scenes.

Xena's trademark signature hero breastplate worn by Xena's stunt. It is made of moduled plastic, real leather and rivets. The inner part is covered of leather to avoid hurting the stunt doubles during the scenes.

Xena's hero resin chakram used during season 1 to 4. This chakram was made over a steel armature for reinforment. The chakram is in mint condition, however, the wear seen was occurred during the production of the series. It has 9 paua shells on each side in mint condition.

Xena's Hero Signature sword

Probably the most iconic weapon from the Warrior Princess besides the chakram... I can't believe it yet. The “Holy Grail” set-used piece arrived this week: Xena’s Hero set-used sword from the early seasons of the series, mostly season 2 and 3, before the master sword was remade.

This stunning sword is a real solid heavy resin cast piece with a metal rod inside to prevent bending. As we all know, Xena’s swords were made of several materials: mostly foam for stunt fights, closed cell foam or rubber. The ones made of heavy resin, like this one, were used for actor close-ups scenes and are quite rare to find nowadays, either the metal ones are the rarest. The sword had been displayed in a wall for decades and now resurfaces here again.

The edges of the guard are much more sculpted than the later sword design. The pommel and cross-guard have the orange gold painting with some wear. The paua shells are quite thick with beautiful green/blue tones. The handle is wrapped with real kangaroo black leather strip. The blade is patinated beautifully, it has signs of wear and small battle breaks, but the painting and general condition is formidable.

I didn’t really realize how different were the swords from the earlier seasons and the the later ones, after I had in front of me each one.

Particularly, this sword was signed by Lucy Lawless in a Xena Con event years ago.

And yes, the screen used sword is longer than the Creation Entertainment replica, a few centimeters…

Xena copper medallion

Finally I added a very special piece to my Xena Hero costume, the Xena copper medallion. A good friend from my country had decided to sell mostly all his collection and I wanted to purchase this piece.

This copper dress medallion was commissioned to one of the metalsmiths that worked as propmasters from the show, the actual person who built Xena’s hero armour from season 2 to 5. It is made of real copper, heated and hammered by hand.

Beyond Rare Xena as Cleopatra Official Photo w/sword

Recently I have found this interesting photo from the episode "Antony & Cleopatra", as you can see it is Xena played by Lucy Lawless holding the Cleopatra Egyptian sword. I'm in love with this image! Enjoy!

And here my Cleopatra sword, check the similarities!

Screenused Evil Xena Sword

Screenused Evil Xena sword prop used by Lucy Lawless in plenty of episodes in the past flashbacks: “Adventures sin trade part I & II”, “Past Imperfect”, “The last of the centaurs or “A friend in need I”. Also seen on screen used by Borias played by Marton Csokas and Crassus in the episode “When in Rome…”.

This sword is made of heavy resin with a metal rod inside. The painting is mostly in good condition although it has a bit of wear of being used in battle scenes probably. It came with a COA from The Prop Store from London that certify that the item is “Lucy Lawless Sword”.
