Callisto's costume

Hi guys! These week Ive received the Callisto leather top and the pair of gaunlets replicas made by the Hollywood propmaster, Todd Coyle. In this case, I must say the truth, the costume is awesome, very detailed, very accurate, good materials...

I could say this is the best Xena costume that I've seen from his shop. Years ago, I had Xena costume that was a good replica, in my opinion, it has a few mistakes but has a good looking and I've also had the Gabrielle green olive top that wasn't so good. At the beginning Todd Coyle used a real alike green fabric but in the latest years the fabric was a different one, wasn't enough screen accurate for 499usd he was asking for.

Before the Todds Coyle sewing shop closed I checked the price on Callisto's costume pieces. The WaybackMachine webpage is been very useful, here is a screencap:

My first thought was that the costume is overpriced but after having it on my hands I realized that is a very intricate costume, many detailes and 100% screen accurate, that is the reason why I've decided to add it to my collection.

After some days of investigation, Todd Coyle received a real Hero screenused Callisto costume to, I imagine, take some measurements, make patterns and to have enough info to start working over the Callisto costume. In the "Xena Fans" section of his webpage is written:

"This is Danielle McCleney showing off her spiffy new "Evil Warrior Woman" outfit that I made for her. Danielle was lucky enough (along with a friend) to get one of the original "Callisto" outfits from "Xena". She loaned it to me to inspect for a period of time so that I could make this version just to fit her. I must say, she looks great in that outfit (not to pat myself on the back, but copying that outfit to this exact degree is an extremely difficult task.) The sword is from Creation Entertainment, I think. I'd love to be a spider on the wall when she wears this thing out!"

Some photos of Danielle McCleney were included in that section, so jelous of her Callisto Creation sword replica.

In 2019, I've adquired Callisto skirt from an England seller and I knew that I will complete the costume at one point. Finally, I do.

Right gaunlet, my favorite.

Callisto played by Hudson Leick had her iconic golden dagger (I have some notices about that soon) but also, used other two iconic daggers: the lattice dagger and the bettle ares style dagger.

Solaris Costume

And finally arrived home, this screenused Solaris costume wardrobe. The character of Solaris was played by Jodie Dorday, a New Zealand actress seen in Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The leyendary journeys in several episodes playing different roles. Solaris was a member of the Telaquire Amazon tribe and a loyal friend of Gabrielle and Ephiny during Velasca's betrayal. Her appearences were mostly during season 2 in the episodes of "The Quest", "A neccesary evil" and in the beginning of the episode "Endgame" from season 4 when Ephiny found her dead body.

Solaris complete main costume view

Solaris costume was originally purchased in Turners Auction in New Zealand in 2001, this auction was the very first time that where sold off all kind of props and costumes used in Hercules, Xena, Young Hercules, Cleopatra 2525 and Jack of All Trades (all series produced by Renaissance Pictures).

Solaris costume with screenused leather amazon scabbard and sword.

The costume includes several pieces: amazon leather bra, leather skirt, belt, gaunlets, upper armbands, boots and necklace. After comparing the costume with some Solaris screencaps I have realized that the belt and upper armbands weren't originally used by Solaris, however is a great addition to the costume, it looks good together and they were used by amazons also.

Solaris leather top made over a real woman bra, very detailed with a metal spiral on one breast, some feathers over the shoulders and plenty of beads arround.

Solaris skirt is made of brown reddish leather, with some large feathers in the front part. The belt wasnt originally used by Solaris, although its an awesome piece, very detailed with some metal ornaments and feathers.

Right and left shoulder pads close-up. This upper armbands were used by amazons in the episode "Endgame" from season 4.

Leather boots, these pair of boots are from Varia costume and they have a tag inside that its written: "Varia Double".

Here I include a few screencaps from Solaris appearences.

Do you know that this wardrobe was also used in the episode "Prodigal sister",from season 4 of Hercules tv series, by the blond amazon.

Screenused Lion Head Sword Prop

Recently I've adquired this beautiful roman style sword. This lion head sword was used in the Xena: Warrior Princess tv series in the latest season of the show.

Front - General view

Handle and guard - Close-up

Is in very good condition for being made 25 years ago. It is made of closed cell foam with a resin coated handle and guard. It has leather wrapped around the handle for easy gripping. It is painted silver/gray and accented with black to make it look used.

Back - General view

Handle and guard - Close-up

This sword  was seen in season 6 episodes, I've found some screencaps from the episodes "The God You Know" and "When Fates Collide".

In this image we can see Xena played by Lucy Lawless with a foam sword fighting romans at the end of the episode, the foam sword were made to this kind of fight scenes to not to hurt anybody. Probably that sword is the one I've got, but not 100% confirmed.

Here are in the romans sheaths when they were going to crucify Gabrielle in "When Fates Collide"

Xena Prototype screenused costume

Hello guys! Today, my screenused Xena prototype costume visited the sewing workshop to repair some small details. However, it is in mint conditon. I wanted to take some photos of the costume more detailed to show front, back and side perspectives. There are plenty of photos of this costume with the armour over it but there arent so much photos without it, and it's a really beautiful piece. Enjoy!

I've adquired this costume a few years ago from the Omarama Gallery from New Zealand, now, named Totara Peak Gallery/Big Rooster Antiques & Collectables that is an unique antique store that had various collections and items of interest.

In the past, this gallery had an amazing Xena collection with plenty of mannequins wearing some screenused wardrobes and props from the tv series. Many people had visited the store just to watch their impresive collection.

But nowadays, that had ended, the owners' daughter took over the business and decided to sell the entire collection in 2017/18 and each costume has a new place anywhere arround the world.

This woman was the owner of the Omarama Gallery.

This photo was at the listing from ebay when Ive bought it.

The side is amazing in  my point of view.

A close-up from the skirt and dress medallion.

Here is a video from the Omarama Totara Peak Gallery from Youtube.
Dated from 2010 when the Xena collection was still there.

Thanks for watching, battle on!
