Recently I have received this rare and beautiful sword although it has a monstrous appearance it has its special charm. It was auctioned a few weeks ago on eBay. This is the Apollo’s Army style sword seen in the episode “Eternal Bonds” from season 5 used by Ares played by Kevin Smith and also by Gabrielle herself played by Renée O’Connor.
At beginning of the episode "Eternal bonds" after the storm, Xena, Gabrielle and Eve met Joxer at the cavern. Those men ,known as the magis, accompanying Joxer were actually warriors sent by three different priests from three different temples: Artemis, Poseidon and Apollo with the aim of killing Xena and her daughter, Eve.
After the fight, Xena realized that if the Apollo's man sword cut Joxer, then it's poisoned, so they must got the mandrake tree resin, the only known cureat.
It’s a quite heavy and large sword made of hard resin with a metal rod inside, some of the painting has gone although the sword is in very good condition. In the eBay listing was written it was a rubber sword but it isn't, it is made of hard resin like plenty of other screenused weapons.
During the final fight against the Poseidon, Artemis and Apollo's army we can see Gabrielle fighting with this style sword.
It is rare sword, I have only seen this sword at worthpoint that was auctioned in eBay years ago and in Jason, Moviepropking, collection. Here are some photos of the Xena newsletter:
